Hopewell is a 150 member Church that has stood in the Claussen community outside of Florence, SC since 1770. We are part of the Presbyterian Church, USA , and are a part of New Harmony Presbytery and theSynod of the South Atlantic. .
Our membership includes a good mix of families with young children and teenagers, young adults, middle age and older adults. We try to offer everyone an opportunity to worship God, study about God, fellowship with each other, and serve God and others. Our members are very involved in our worship, whether through the Choir, the Praise Choir, or worshiping in the pews.

Worship at Hopewell is a good mix of traditional and contemporary styles that is augmented by specials by the Choir, Praise Choir, and Youth Choir. “Pastor Bill” has a Time For Children every Sunday and we have a Children’s Church time lead by members of the congregation. A Nursery is also available.
Hopewell offers many activities and opportunities for worship, learning, fellowship and service. Our Sundays begin with a Coffee Fellowship and Assembly at 9:30 followed by Sunday School at 10:00 with 4 adult classes and four children’s, Junior High and High School classes. A Nursery is also provided. Worship is at 11:00.

Sunday evenings bring out the Choir and Praise Choir for practices.
During the school year we have a Family Night Supper at 6:00 on Wednesday nights, followed by Bible Study for the adults and fellowship, and study for the Senior High age group and fellowship, Youth Choir, and games and study for the Junior High and younger. A nursery is also available.

We have two Presbyterian Women’s circles – one that meets the second Tuesday of every month at 10:00 and the other that meets the second Saturday of every month at 9:30. They have joint meetings for fellowship and mission several times a year. The Presbyterian Women at Hopewell are very active and support many different missions in the community and around the world.
Hopewell has a Men’s Club group that meets the second Thursday of every month. The Men’s Club holds a barbecue supper fundraiser every year on the last Wednesday of February to raise money to use to help others in our community and around the world.
Hopewell offers many opportunities for fellowship and learning for our youth. The youth meet every week during the school year on Wednesday nights after our 6:00 Family Night supper and have special events such as lock ins, ski trips, trips to minor league baseball games, and camping trips – just to name a few! Our youth are involved in worship through the Youth Choir and many other activities. Many of our young people enjoy a week at summer camp at Camp Pee Dee.

The members of Hopewell enjoy fellowship times on many occasions. Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, Covered Dish suppers and lunches, fellowship times coupled with a special worship service, and events such as our Fall Festival, Christmas Workshop, Easter Egg Hunt, Juy 4th and many others bring us together to fellowship and enjoy the love we share with everyone. One new addition to our fellowship times is our First Wednesday Out To Lunch Bunch that goes out to restaurants throughout Florence on the first Wednesday of every month. If there is a reason to get together and fellowship, we’ll do it. If there’s not a reason, we’ll make one up!

The members of Hopewell are also very active in supporting Missions in our community and around the world. We reach out to others with the love of God by helping people in our community at Christmas and when they need help during the year. We actively support The Lighthouse Ministry and House of Hope of the Pee Dee. We take up collections of items for Thornwell Home For Children during the year and send care packages to soldiers in Iraq. These are just some of the many ways members of Hopewell are making a difference with the love of God in the community and the world.
If you are looking for a place where you can worship God, take part in opportunities for learning and fellowship, and reach out to others with the love of God, come visit us at Hopewell. We would be glad to have you.
